Annoyed and amused by the popularity of rap artist Nelly in 2002, Joe Worthen and I decided to record a parody version of Hot in Herre to amuse our friends and ourselves. Joe had such a high-pitched voice at the time that I had to pitch-shift it to be low enough to match the range of Nelly's voice. We were so amused by the result that we next covered Khia's Lick it Now. It was so funny to us, we decided to create our own fake rapper, Crazy T. In a matter of weeks, we finished our first Crazy T album, Bowl Full of Fuck, at the end of 2002.
When we first developed him, Crazy T was an idiot. He was both poor at rhyming and even poorer at rhythmic delivery. In 2004, after a two year break, we reinvented Crazy T to begin a new album, I'm In Dallas, Bitch!. This new Crazy T's personality fit his own name. Instead of being incapable, he was purely insane. His lyrics were clever while being inconsistent and completely offensive to most people. Also, at this time we developed his official musical counterpart, my alter-ego DJ Sanity. After I'm in Dallas, Bitch!, we made one more Crazy T EP in 2006, I've Been Alive Since the Dawn of Time, before throwing in the towel for good. Joe and I played Crazy T and DJ Sanity, respectively, in my 2007 film, Kirk Mannican's Liberty Mug.
Although I didn't always help write Crazy T's lyrics, I was responsible for every note of his background music. Some of the music I made for Crazy T is fantastic, especially on his later two CDs.
